After having several painful episodes in upper left abdomen, I decided to have a check up.
Had EKG to make sure it wasn't heart related. Also, a chest xray and stool sample to see where the blood was coming from.
All those tests turned out fine but the pain still persisted so I was referred to a GI Specialist who told me I needed an endoscopy (camera goes down your throat).
Well, I wasn't exactly thrilled because I knew NEEDLES would be involved which makes my blood pressure hit the roof!
But the doctor said "don't panic, I will take good care of you."
When I showed up to the Surgical Center I was petrified... I filled out my paperwork and as I was sitting in waiting room contemplating on leaving, a nurse came out and gave me a warm blanket and smiled at exactly the moment I needed encouragement.
I was so impressed at their kindness and genuine personalities, they even made me laugh!
Turns out, the dreaded needle wasn't as bad as I had imagined. They were so friendly and had calming attitude. And it really put me at ease to see how efficient and informative they were about the whole process.
So if you're putting off a procedure or medical tests, make sure you find the RIGHT PEOPLE to do the job! It makes all the difference in the world!
